    About Me

Even as a professional 5 star hotelier,
I often struggled to find truly heartfelt “hideaways”—those hidden gems where you can step away from the busyness of life, return to your roots, and open yourself to new possibilities in a beautiful setting. Out of this very longing,
the idea of creating a virtual hotel ...

    • And so, the Wheel of Life begins again — for the first time in 2026.
There is something deeply reassuring in knowing that the cycle of nature (almost) never changes, no matter what shifts in our personal lives.

Tonight, I burned incense for the first time this year — the first of eight rituals throughout the year — Imbolc, the moment when purification begins and the first quiet courage to step into the light awakens. Hopefully it doesn’t mean anything that my fire had real trouble burning in the snow 🙂

Winter is still present, yet it has begun to shift. Beneath the cold surface, life is stirring once more. You start to notice more animals returning — hedgehogs Igel), badgers (Dachse), squirrels (Eichhörnchen), and bats (Fledermäuse) slowly emerge from hibernation, while others grow more active again, sensing the returning light.
Imbolc invites cleansing, release, and the bravery to trust what wants to grow. The atmosphere feels just right — grey and cold — creating space for reflection, stillness, and clarity.

🕯️ My favorite journaling prompts for this Imbolc incense moment:
• What do I want to cleanse or purify as winter loosens its grip?
• Where am I being asked to dare a small leap into the light?
• What inner flame needs care, patience, and gentle nourishment right now?

The colors of this moment are white, pale yellow, and brown —
white for cleansing and new beginnings,
soft yellow for the returning light and fragile hope,
brown for earth, roots, and the steady ground beneath every transformation.

Wishing you a peaceful, healthy, and grounded start into the new cycle. Those who would like a brief explanation of how I perform this ritual are warmly invited to subscribe to my newsletter (link in bio) to receive it regularly.

With warmth and love,
Ulrike

⚠️ PS: Please remember — charcoal incense rituals can be a fire hazard. If you are not 100% confident, never perform them indoors or outdoors in nature.

    • "I have an appointment in Paris again.” Ça sonne déjà très bien, doesn’t it? Just me, a suitcase filled with beautiful outfits, delicate fragrances, good food and wonderful wine. La vie. And it gets even better: I’ll be visiting a new hotel project, dressed in chic Parisian black. It will look effortless — but who ever said that easy means simple?

Have a look at what I’ve put together: lots of basics (I love to travel light) and my oversized Burberry coat, which I bought during my New York years — almost 30 years ago — in the middle of a winter storm. I’ve rediscovered it recently and love it again more than ever (well, almost).

Just in time, these clients thought of me while talking about the kind of “hotel” they want to create: a place for more self-love, more calm, more dreams, more doing, more sleeping, more resting, more laughter. Haha — it almost sounds like a clinic concept. But no, not quite. What they really want is a resort where guests can truly focus on themselves again. Un peu plus. And yes — I’d happily volunteer as the first guest.

Would you like to dream with me? Paris. Even the name carries history, elegance, and that unmistakable joie de vivre. Pressing your nose against shop windows, sitting at a café with a café crème, discovering little boutiques that hide true treasures. C’est ça, Paris. I love to get up early before the meetings: Strolling through small streets and the first coffee. Watching the flower shops open. There is flirting, long déjeuners, and that effortless sense of class in everything.

And of course — when evening falls, the city glows in golden light. A walk along the Seine, softly lit bridges, a final glass of wine, and that comforting feeling of being exactly where you’re meant to be. Ici et maintenant.

La vie est belle. And sometimes, we just have to wait for the right invitation.
Which trip is coming up for you — and what will you take with you? I’m curious…

Gros bisous,
Ulrike 🖤✨

    • Don’t you agree — there are very good reasons to stay in bed. Especially in January. If you need just one more reason for your upcoming “weekend,” take a look at Francis Featherstone’s pillow-talk images. Aren’t they not only incredibly beautiful, but also dangerously tempting? The kind that make you want to gather a stack of books and plan a date with yourself.

January comes with plenty of those blue-mood days. No one is truly ready for peak productivity. So look around and find a beautiful hideaway — a place to slow the pulse after the noise of December.

Staying in bed isn’t laziness. It’s a form of luxury.
Beautiful textures. Soft layers. And really — what could be better than breakfast in bed? Why shouldn’t we? In bed, thoughts arrive without urgency. Books wait patiently. Plans lose their sharp edges.

Sometimes, staying in our pyjamas is how we nourish ourselves.
To slow down.
To sleep in.
To cuddle, cocoon — whatever brings joy.

So yes.
There are days when staying in bed
is the most honest thing you can do.

And believe it or not — we once had guests at the Four Seasons who ordered our mattresses at check-out because they loved them so much. And for me — nothing against anti-allergic materials — but what is cozier than real down duvets? Thick. Fluffy. Properly indulgent.

If you’d like to know more about how to turn your bed into a true place of comfort, write BED in the comments and I’ll send you more information 🤍

    • We’re incredibly fortunate — though it wasn’t really luck. It was a deliberate search, curiosity, and the courage to try something new — that led us to a small retreat at 1,800 metres. Just 2.5 hours from the sea. And yes, there is snow. Almost always. Often plenty of it.

Skiing is the luxury of my childhood. For my parents, it mattered to leave for the mountains right after the New Year business rush. Today, I try to pass that same feeling on to our children. Because skiing, to me, is freedom. Energy. Movement. Stepping outside the comfort zone.

I love skiing alone — even though fewer and fewer people around me still do, and I don’t always dare to. But when I do: the sky is impossibly blue, the music is just right (Martin Gore singing “Enjoy the silence” makes me feel very young … and when I need an extra boost after the quiet: Lords of the Boards 😌), and there’s that unmistakable crunch beneath the skis.

So what can I say — life is dangerous anyway. We might as well live it with a big grin on our faces.

PS: And so everyone doesn’t rush to the same tiny place at once — just look around where you live. Somewhere nearby, a small white paradise is surely waiting.

    • Dimanche, et c’est tout.

It makes me happy when you value this journey into nature as much as I do. Years ago in Germany, I completed the full hunting education with the local Kreisjäger — at a time when I hardly had space for it, yet it felt essential. Understanding the diversity of plants and animals — at any age — creates care. Care creates responsibility. If you’d like to discover more, visit me in our small virtual hotel, with its garden full of treasures from around the world. Link in bio.

    • "Time to pause. Time to rest.
If you work in hospitality — or any other service industry — this is probably the moment when you can finally take a few days off.

For the past years, I’ve been taking 12 nights to return to myself.
Some say you should start on December 24th (Raunächte vibes), but honestly — I don’t think it matters when you start.
What matters is that you start.

It always feels a little strange at the beginning.
And by the end, there is an incredible sense of clarity.

Over time, I’ve created an almost 30-page booklet, with beautiful illustrations, for my personal notes and reflections.
If you sign up for the Spirations 360° Refugium newsletter
(link in bio or www.spirations360.com/retreat2026/),
I’ll send you a copy — as a gift 🤍

It includes:
• 12 reflections
• 12 gentle rituals
• one unique mind map

    • "The idea of the Book of Life was one of the very first concepts for this Instagram account. I’ve always loved writing, and many Moleskine notebooks have patiently listened to countless stories over the years (though I suspect that, given the choice, they would have preferred to keep their pages white 😉).

At some point, this little book with the colorful cover found its way into my life — and it now holds what I call my most memorable Hooks of Life. My Instagram photography journey started slowly last January, with those magnificent anemones (absolute January favorites). This year’s first dog walk with Clooney, Nika, Cleo and my beloved friend Anja had to be photographed as well, because yes — I truly live by my Book of Life... and yes, on page 19 it reads: “Never miss to celebrate.” Even if it’s “just” dog people meeting up for a New Year hike with a bottle of Kessler (the best of German sparkling wine — and honestly, isn’t that bottle mignonne?).

Viva la Vida, people — the most important message of all.

The garden gate to our refugium is open. www.spirations360.com
Our hotel welcomes you at any time, sans réservation. Every room, every suite offers time, space — and a moment for yourself. Quand viens-tu ? Link in bio.

I’m already super excited for the next Book of Life reel and wish you all a festive, happy-filled, and truly wonderful 2026 🤍

Love,
Ulrike
